Pewter serving pieces are a staple item in just about every Scandinavian home. Normally, pewter pieces should not be washed in the dishwasher since certain types of detergents tend to darken pewter. However, all of Hardanger-Bestikk products can be put in the dishwasher and, to make cleaning easier, the forks are hand-ground between the tines. The cutlery is surface-treated to make it more wear-resistant and hygienic than untreated cutlery. Pewter can be polished with fine steel wool moistened in lukewarm water and mild soap. With proper care, your pieces will last for generations.

History of Hardanger-Bestikk Company
Hardanger Sylvplett started in 1958 as a one-man company. Since then, they have expanded continuously with the result that they are now the largest manufacturer of cutlery in Norway. Their high quality cutlery is made of steel which contains 18% chromium and 8% nickel. This quality alloy is known as 18/8 stainless steel. Most of the current range of products is in 18/8 stainless steel, and they produce more than 15 different patterns and designs. Their collection is based on the best traditions of Norwegian craftmanship and some of the patterns can trace their origins back to the Norwegian saga. Hardanger-Bestikk is the manufacturer of the well-known "Royal Pewter - Kongetinn" series.
