The glassworks have become a well-established institution. It was founded in 1896. From that time on the flaming ovens at Magnor have melted glass. The components are coloured sand and glass remains. These are melted with a temperature of between 1100 to 1200 degrees Centigrade. With the help of blowing tubes, tongs, and wooden forms the glass is created by masters of the trade. After having seen our artisans at work you will have experienced something of the mystique of timeless glass artistry. From this stage on the glass is handled even more cautiously. Crystal engraving is known to us from the height of the classical era of Greece and Rome. The master engraver's hand and his sense for form simply cannot be replaced by modern machines.

Kingdom expresses a love of our spiritual heritage. Designer Maria Rud has been inspired by artistic traditions stemming from the cradle of civilisation and modern impressions from the likes of Klee, Picasso, Modigliani and others. Note how the glowing colours breathe life into the glass in Angel, Warrior and Deer, each of which is decorated to achieve a powerful silhouette effect. |
